- is the perfect start to the festive season with lots of Christmas festivities. A huge, heated craft and gift Marquee on Palace Green will feature over 190 stalls. Entry to the marquee is around £4 and is the place to get those special unique gifts! (entry to Christmas Festival is Free) In the Cathedral Cloisters, there’s a Local Food Producers Market. DAY 1
Your festive break begins as you board our Royal Class coach at your chosen pickup point. Relax in comfort as we journey north, pausing at Mainsgill Farm Shop for a tempting selection of local produce and refreshments. Arrive in South Shields early afternoon and delight in the lively Customs House Theatre pantomime “Sleeping Beauty—the perfect start to the festive season. Later, check into our handpicked Little Haven Hotel, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner with your fellow travellers. The evening continues with entertainment and music, ensuring a warm, sociable atmosphere.
DDAY 2
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for a day of Christmas cheer in Durham. The city is festively adorned, offering reindeer rides, live entertainment, music, and colourful gift stalls. At 2pm, gather in Durham Cathedral for the cherished Carols for All service, where you can join in singing your favourite carols under glorious vaulted ceilings. Throughout the day, browse Durham’s Great Market Hall for bargains galore, explore the local producers market in the cathedral cloisters, and discover over 180 craft and gift stalls in the marquee on Palace Green (small entry charge applies). As your holiday draws to a close, we depart for home, stopping en route for a delightful tea—leaving you with wonderful memories of festive friendship and Hanson Exclusives hospitality.
