The Wensum Valley Hotel is set in 350 acres of beautiful countryside of the Wensum Valley, just 15 minutes from the city of Norwich and Taverham even closer just a 5 minute walk away. The modern leisure centre has an indoor swimming pool, spa bath, sauna and steam room.   The Valley Restaurant serves seasonal menus using local produce, and features wonderful views across the golf course.  Cooked breakfasts are served daily, and the bar offers beverages and snacks.

We travel to our Norwich hotel with a stop in historic Stamford, the town which became “Middlemarch” for the TV adaptation of George Eliot’s novel.

 

 

Day two          Morning visit to Norfolk Lavender, with a guided tour to explain the history and process of lavender production.

 

 

In the afternoon we visit HM The King’s house & 60 acre estate at Sandringham. Built in 1870 for the Prince & Princess of Wales, it has been a country retreat for four generations of monarchs.

 

  

Day three        A free morning in the city of Norwich, which is a pleasant city for shopping. See Colman’s Mustard Shop, and the cathedral and riverside areas are beautiful.

 

 

In the afternoon we visit beautiful East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden.

 

 

Day four          Enjoy a steam train ride today on the Bure Valley Railway,

 

 

Later enjoy a 90 minute cruise on the glorious Norfolk Broads. Its not easy to see the extent of the Broads from the roads so a boat trip is ideal to view the reed beds, boat marinas and waterside estates.

 

 

Day five           In Thetford, the town that became "Walmington on Sea", we take an entertaining 'Dads Army' tour.
